'The Ducati with Dovizioso was already good... but they had Marquez as a rival' - Alvaro Bautista

One of Ducati's workers in 2022 was champion Alvaro Bautista, winner of the Superbike World Championship. The spaniard praised the efforts of the Borgo Panigale factory in the MotoGP class too, where he claimed the triple crown.

The veteran pointed out that the Desmosedici has been a strong bike for some time now, but until recently the competition had a very strong Marc Marquez who never really gave other riders a chance to fight for the title. One of those who reached the furthest 'in the Marc Marquez era' was Andrea Dovizioso, as Bautista recalled in a conversation with Mundo Deportivo:

- Ducati hasn't won the riders' championship since 2007 in MotoGP and since 2011 in Superbike. There have been many years where Ducati has worked non-stop and the key to that has been the work done since the arrival of Gigi Dall'Igna. In Dovizioso's time, the bike was already very good... but he had Marquez as a rival, who was above all other riders. And on Superbikes it was the same. But there aren't any secrets, just perseverance. The other manufacturers cannot complain, they have to lower their heads and work hard. Ducati didn't complain and did things the right way.
