Angel Stadium in Anaheim hosted the start of another AMA Supercross Championship season with the triumph of Jett Lawrence. In the 250SX class, the West Region riders kicked off another season of the best Supercross there is, as the East Region begins racing only in early February.

Having qualified for Saturday night's only main event, a 16-lap race, the start of the race was marked by a crash for Austin Forkner. The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider did not make a steady, straight line start and made contact with RJ Hampshire, before crashing into the bike of Cameron Mcadoo - his team-mate.

Shortly after, Jett Lawrence claimed the holeshot and Mcadoo stuck to the rear of the #18 bike. Max Vohland was third. As the laps went on, Lawrence became more and more isolated.

Meanwhile, Hampshire managed to overtake Mcadoo in the battle for second place and gain ground on the Kawasaki man. To the end nobody stopped Lawrence who was able to finish on top; Hampshire was second and Mcadoo took the final podium spot with the two riders within 5.2s and 10.6s of Lawrence respectively.

The next round of the championship takes place in a week's time at the RingCentral Coliseum in Oakland.
